My name is Eric. One of my friends said I should sell cars. He said it’s the hardest sales position of any industry. If you can make it on the showroom floor, you can make it in any sales position selling anything. So, I did. I learned about my brand and learned about my dealership’s sales process. I did ok. I noticed a lot of turn over, most salespeople barely making a living, and only one salesperson doing good out of thirty. Then one day driving to work, I decided to be myself. Throw all the jargon out the window. Be the customer’s friend, as if I was the customer. I didn’t care whether the customer bought, or not. I didn’t care how much time I spent with my customer. All I cared about was helping and giving information that I would want if I was the customer. And on the way out, I’d tell the customer “Tell everyone who I am, what I do, and what I stand for.” It didn’t really make much sense, but I have fun, and everybody likes me. After that, the sales skyrocketed! Everyone wants to buy a car from me, and I’m just having a lot of fun. Eric V.
