RECEPTIONIST

RECEPTIONIST

I had originally taken this job as a receptionist, at a busy tire repair center, because I was new to the area, and needed work. I have always done a good job, but at times I’ve had difficult customers from time to time, and it took a toll on me, and sometimes I think it affected my performance. A while back this team from a consulting company came to help our business. They spent a lot of time on technician turnover and the managers. One afternoon one of them sat with me, and we had a very interesting conversation. He asked, “What would a best-case scenario look like for you here?” So, I told him. The next day, I spent all day with him, and our owner. We talked about everything. I was given a performance raise, a very interesting pay plan. More important, I have daily communication with the owner, and real support that makes me feel everyone here stands behind my work, including the owner. I am told our business is up over 25%, and my pay has almost doubled. I couldn’t be happier, customers say they can hear me smiling over the phone, and just about every call is answered on the first ring. Cassie M.
